Faith Ladies head coach Raymond Fenny has described his team’s FA Cup triumph as a "historic moment," after guiding the club to their first-ever Women’s FA Cup title.
Faith Ladies came from behind to claim a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Jonina Ladies, with Erica Obeng Apreku scoring both goals to secure the silverware.
The win capped off a remarkable FA Cup campaign for Faith Ladies, who stunned many, notably their emphatic 4-1 win over Hasaacas Ladies in the semi-finals.
“For me, this is a historic moment; a team going on relegation and still managing to win the FA Cup—this is unheard of, and I believe it’s the first time something like this has happened," he told JoySports.
“For the first time, they truly applied what we’ve been teaching them. In the league, any time we scored, they lost focus. We kept telling them that going down doesn’t mean the game is over, and they shouldn’t give up,” he explained.
“When we went a goal down, they didn’t give up, they gingered themselves. And ultimately, they scored two goals and won us the cup.”
