Kumasi Girls’ SHS, the 'AHEMAA', have stamped their authority on the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Preliminary Stage, overpowering Osei Kyeretwie SHS, the 'AHENEMMA', in a dramatic battle at the CNC Auditorium.
The contest began with almost nothing separating the three schools, as Kumasi Girls’ SHS opened with 13 points, just one ahead of Tamale Girls’ SHS and Osei Kyeretwie SHS, both on 12 points.
But as the battle intensified, the AHEMAA gradually pulled away.
By the end of Round Two, Kumasi Girls’ SHS had stretched their lead to 18 points, with OKESS on 13 points and Tamale Girls’ SHS on 8 points.
The Problem of the Day provided another twist, with the AHENEMMA making a push with six points. Yet Kumasi Girls’ SHS held firm, ending Round Three on 24 points against OKESS’ 19 points.

Then came the True or False round — and the AHEMAA turned up the heat.
Kumasi Girls’ SHS raced to 37 points, leaving the AHENEMMA trailing on 29 points. The final riddles offered more drama, but the AHEMAA remained in control, eventually sealing victory with 43 points.
OKESS finished second on 32 points, while Tamale Girls’ SHS ended on 23 points.
