It was a solemn moment when family, friends and sympathisers gathered for the one-week observation of late veteran Ghanaian disc jockey and Multimedia Group staff member, Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, popularly known as DJ Awana.
The ceremony took place at the Aggrey Road School Park near old Adom FM in Tema Community 2.

Many mourners, including colleagues from the Multimedia Group, players from the creative arts industry, among others, were at the venue to commiserate with the family.

In attendance were; the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MGL, Ken Ansah, former Adom FM Programmes Manager, Daddy Bosco; General Manager of Adom Brands, Abdulai Awudu; General Manager for Joy Brands, Fiifi Koomson; Adom FM Programmes Manager, Joshua Tigo; Asempa FM Programmes Manager, Philip Osei Bonsu alongside several presenters and other members of staff.


Gospel legends Mary Ghansah and Celestine Donkor delivered soul-lifting performances that touched the hearts of all present.


Celestine Donkor and her husband Kofi Donkor donated GH₵500 to the family and further pledged to support DJ Awanna’s children through to their university education — a gesture that moved many.

Colleagues from the Multimedia Group also donated GH₵4,000 and 20 packs of bottled water to the bereaved family.

DJ Awana, aged 47, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the 37 Military Hospital after a short illness.


Meanwhile, the family has announced that DJ Awana will be laid to rest on 27th September 2025 at the Prampram Cemetery. Details of the funeral venue will be confirmed and shared in due course.
