Parts of the Greater Kumasi Metropolis are expected to be plunged into long hours of power outages on Tuesdays as the Electricity Company of Ghana begins relocation of transmission lines along the Ahodwo-Santasi stretch.
The exercise, scheduled to commence on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, is part of planned relocation works to pave the way for the construction of the Ahodwo to Santasi dual carriageway, which is steadily shaping up.
The power distribution company says the exercise is crucial to relocate high-tension lines and other low-voltage poles along the stretch earmarked for the dualization that would ease vehicular congestion in the Asokwa and Nhyiaeso enclaves.
The Affected communities include Santasi Roundabout, Santasi Fidelity Bank, Ernest Chemist, TUC, part of Nhyiaso, Dakodwom, and their surroundings.
Areas affected by the outage are advised to plan accordingly and utilise energy judiciously until the entire exercise is completed.
The company, however, did not indicate when the exercise would be completed, but assured that expedited works to ensure normal power restoration.
Meanwhile, the ECG is urging affected individuals and structures with meters not to bolt away with them but rather hand them over to allow for calculations on power consumption and credits.
