The LEAS Lead at GCB Bank PLC, Linus Kumi, has underscored that the Bank’s partnership with the Ghana Sports Fund is centred on building strong institutional systems rather than offering short-term support.
Speaking during the strategic session in Accra, Mr Kumi said the collaboration is structured around knowledge transfer and long-term capacity development.
“This collaboration is designed to transfer knowledge, not create dependency,” he stated.

He outlined a comprehensive support framework provided by GCB Bank, which includes:
Developing a comprehensive Investment Policy Statement (IPS)
Designing a funding roadmap and stakeholder engagement strategy
Establishing measurable impact metrics
Providing digital banking and reporting tools to enhance transparency
According to Mr Kumi, sustainability for the Ghana Sports Fund must rest on three key pillars: diversified and predictable funding, strong governance and accountability, and professional financial stewardship that preserves and grows capital.
“When governance is strong, and funding is diversified, impact becomes measurable and sustainable,” he noted.
By strengthening these systems, he said, GCB Bank aims to position the Fund not merely as a disbursement channel but as an investment-ready institution capable of supporting Ghana’s sports ecosystem for generations.
“This is about building a structure that endures,” he added.
