Minority leader in Parliament, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, says Ghana’s economy is in a big mess due to incompetence and mismanagement by the present administration.
He described the economic situation as a “gargantuan mess” and labelled the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government as a “monumental failure.”
Speaking during the NDC 2024 official campaign launch on July 27, he said, “Our country is in a mess, a gargantuan mess, a big fat mess. In fact Ghana is in trouble. This Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government has been a monumental failure.”
“It has been eight good years of lies and more lies. Eight years of impunity and lawlessness. Eight years of recklessness. It has been eight years of no jobs and joblessness. It has been eight years of no hope and hopelessness. Eight years of hardship and misery. Eight years of taxes and more taxes.”
Dr Ato Forson accused the government of excessive borrowing, illegal money printing and corruption.
“Eight years of borrowing, more borrowing and over borrowing. Eight years of illegal printing of money at the Bank of Ghana. Eight years of illegality. Eight years of wastage. Eight years of non-performance.”
“Eight years of poor governance. Eight years of massive uncontrolled corruption. Eight years of state capture, family and friend and arrogance of power.”
However, the Minority leader urged Ghanaians to exercise their democratic right by voting for John Mahama.
He believes that Mr Mahama’s leadership could bring about the necessary changes to address the country's economic and governance challenges.
“50% of Ghanaian doctors are now working abroad due to poor working conditions obviously because this government has failed. That statement that I will not be voting because this government has failed, I dare to say that you will have a change of mind."
"This NPP government borrowed and over borrowed and has made Ghana bankrupt to the extent that even pensioners were forced to accept crude haircuts and today the Bank of Ghana is bankrupt and policy insolvent and cocobod is actually collapsed," he said.
