Karela United boosted their survival hopes in the Ghana Premier League with a comeback victory over Bechem United on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
The Hunters took the lead in the 44th minute through Emmanuel Abban, who found the net with a brilliant strike, giving Bechem a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
However, Karela responded strongly in the second half, applying relentless pressure. Their efforts paid off in the 76th minute when defender Baba Moro Abdulai inadvertently put the ball into his own net, leveling the score.
Buoyed by the equalizer, Karela maintained their intensity, and just five minutes later, Eric Antwi completed the comeback with a decisive goal. Nurudeen Amadu’s side held firm in the closing stages to secure all three points.
The victory ends Karela’s three-game winless run and lifts them to 15th place, just above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Bechem United missed the chance to close the gap on league leaders Asante Kotoko, remaining in 5th place, six points off the top.
Up next, Karela will face fellow relegation battlers Legon Cities, while Bechem United take on Dreams FC
