Hearts of Oak endured a frustrating start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, settling for a goalless draw against newly promoted Hohoe United on a lively Friday night in Accra.
Coming off a promising pre-season, the Phobians guided by head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, entered the fixture as clear favourites and quickly took control of possession. Midfielder Abdul Karim dictated the tempo in the centre of the park, while forward Frank Abora Duku provided energy and movement in attack. Despite their dominance, however, Hearts struggled to carve out clear-cut opportunities, with Hohoe’s compact back line holding firm.
The match’s key moment arrived in the 67th minute when Hohoe debutant Solomon Adomako received a second yellow card and was sent off, reducing the visitors to ten men. That dismissal handed Hearts a numerical advantage for the final stages, but they failed to capitalise.
Hohoe captain Osman Safian marshalled his defence with composure, repelling wave after wave of late pressure to secure a point on the club’s maiden top-flight appearance.
The stalemate leaves both sides with a single point in the opening day fixture of the 2025-26 season.
