Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nkoranza South Constituency in the Bono East Region says he retained the seat due to his track record.
Mr Agyekum secured 28,469 votes, beating Harriet Oppong Kyeremanteng of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), his keen challenger who polled 20,912 in the parliamentary elections.
Sabastine Gaata, the Parliamentary Candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) obtained 112 votes, while Florence Ampour, an Independent Candidate had 23 votes.
In an interview with the media at Nkoranza, the constituency capital, Mr Agyekum expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the electorate, and the chiefs and people of Nkoranza for their unflinching support.
He pledged to do more for the holistic development of the area. He assured the people that with his second term in parliament, most of the needs of the local communities would be tackled and spur rapid socio-economic growth and development in the constituency.
Mr Agyekum said his victory was a win for all and urged the people to bury their political differences and forge ahead in unity for the development of the constituency to thrive, underlining the need for them to be committed to development.
“I have a commitment to serve my people, and I promise to do so, and with the support of the constituents, the development of Nkoranzaman would be brought to the next pedestal,” he stated.
