It was certainly a thrilling conclusive battle between the geniuses in reading as two basic schools clashed in the finals of the 2024 Inter-Schools Reading Quiz.
After four weeks of captivating and thrilling brain-wracking experiences with the participating schools, all-girls contestants of Theorose School won the competition following a tight match with all-boys contestants of Golden Angels School in the finals. Theorose School clinched the ultimate prize with half-a-point margin.

It was a tough contest from the beginning, as both schools drew after the first round, recording 24 points each. But Theorose School pulled a gap after the second round as they accumulated 48 points while Golden Angels School scored 42 points.
However, the all-boys team bounced back in the final round, dubbed the ‘Genius Round,’ overtaking the all-girls team with 17.5 points as the girls scored 12 points.
But it still did not save the boys, as Theorose School recorded 60, a 0.5-point win against Golden Angels School, who accrued 59.5 points at the final showdown of the rounds.

The represented ‘Cubs’ of the winning school, as they are called, Grace Appiah, Gloria Appiah, and Ewurabena Koranteng Asante, take home a cash prize of GH₵ 3,000.00, a gold trophy, a 2-week all-expense paid educational and fun trip to Canada worth GH₵150,000.00, and other products from sponsors.
Golden Angels School won the silver trophy with GH₵ 2,000.00 cash prize and other goodies from sponsors. Prospect International School and Startrite Schools emerged as third and fourth, respectively, taking home GH₵ 1,000.00 each and goodies from sponsors.

All four schools are assured of a scholarship to participate in the National Spelling Bee Championship worth GH₵ 7,000.00 as part of the package.


Held at the Legon Interdenominational Church auditorium, the schools experienced an unforgettable period with personalities including award-winning actor Adjetey Anang, CEO of Perbi Cubs, Anyele Perbi, the co-founder of Perbi Cubs, and Dr. Yaw Perbi, amongst others.


The Inter-School Reading Quiz is the brainchild of Perbi Cubs in partnership with UNESCO’s Accra World Book Capital. The initiative seeks to promote literacy skills among twenty thousand basic school pupils across the country.
