Afrobeats musician and Highly Spiritual Music signee, Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, popularly known as Mr Drew, says he will not be perturbed if he fails to win an award at this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz, the “Mood” hit maker said, "It wouldn’t be a problem, because at the at the end of the day, people win awards and then the rest of the year things happen, people get bigger songs and people tend to forget that stuff like this happened in the year. In the moment, it is important, but after a while, life goes on, people will get back to their normal stuff, so we are just planning to take over and do more," he told Andy Dosty.
Even though he got nominated for the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year category, he missed out on categories like ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’, and that came as a major disappointment to his record label, High Spiritual Music.
But in his interview today, the "Later” singer said he does not feel let down, as he is always looking for ways to improve himself, and he sees that as an opportunity to prove people wrong.
"I'm not really disappointed. I'm only trying to better myself. I feel there is more I can do so it is not really an issue. I'm always looking into the future and looking at what I can do to better myself. At the end of the day there are more awards shows. So I can get more chances to prove people wrong so I don't really see it as a problem," he noted.
Mr Drew's “Mood” was nominated in the Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year category for this year's VGMA, alongside the likes of Black Sherif's “Second Sermon”, Sefa's “Echoke”, Kuami Eugene's “Dollar on You”, Joe Mettle's “Ye Obua Me” and Fameye's “Praise”.
The date and venue for VGMA 23' is yet to be announced.
