The Minority caucus in Parliament has criticised the government's plan to recruit some 11,000 persons into the country's security agencies.
The caucus alleges that the recruitment process is not transparent. Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah warned that there would be a massive protest if the government does not change its approach.
He has thus called on the Minister of Interior to halt the current process and follow the standard procedure to allow all eligible Ghanaians a fair opportunity to apply.
The Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament's Defense and Interior Committee, James Agalga said the attempt to recruit from a supposed backlog is illegal and discriminatory.

Mr Agalga accused the Minister of attempting to recruit NPP loyalists into the security services.
He stated that such actions would lead to violence in the 2024 election, similar to what occurred in the 2020 election.
“If they really want to recruit, we expect them to advertise. The publication in this newspaper does not amount to an advert because an advertisement must contain a clear-cut eligibility criterion. What is your height, age, your health status etc. are usually contained in an advert for recruitment. This is not an advert for recruitment”.
