Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande has chosen to represent Cote d'Ivoire over Ghana.
Despite being born in Cote d'Ivoire, Diomande spent a chunk of his formative years in Ghana as he was nurtured by Right to Dream Academy.
He moved to FC Nordsjallenad from the Ghana-based academy before eventually signing for Scottish side Rangers last summer.
Due to his performances this season, the 22-year-old was named in Otto Addo's squad for the March international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda. However, the player turned down the opportunity to play for the Black Stars.
He has now revealed his desire to represent the Elephants in his international career.
"My dream has always been to represent Ivory Coast, the country of my parents," said Diomade in an interview Nostafoot as quoted by Ivorian journalist Malick Traoré.
"I am ready to play with the Elephants in A or with the U23."
Diomande has started 10 of his 12 appearances in the Scottish Premiership. He has two goals to his name.
