After the swearing in Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the Vice-President of Ghana, a lot of well wishes have poured in for her, especially considering the fact that she becomes the first woman, in Ghana's history, to occupy the position.
Poet and writer Oswald Okaitei is one of the people who have expressed their immense joy over the special feat chalked by the Vice-President.
In his poem titled NJOA, he extols the virtues of the revered professor:
Of times beyond memories
And memories beyond times
NJOA!
Her name shall echo
Across the sphere of the earth
In tales to be told
Across the boundaries of ages of old:
NJOA!
—The Woman-king—
Who blazed a never-to-die torch
And broke boundaries
To conquer and set statusquos
NJOA!
—the Woman of firsts—
—the Conqueror of statusquo—
—the Opener of shut doors—
—the Maker of history—
The face
To the new phase
of our once desecrated alter of politics.
The sunrise to a long night
Never ever thought to wither
NJOA!
She holds the door (open)!
And thus,
Her-story,
Is now written in bold ink of gold
On ever-flipping pages
Of never ending story of history
