President John Mahama, on Thursday, commissioned Phases 1 and 2 of the $1.5 billion Tema Port Expansion Project, marking a major milestone in Ghana’s maritime infrastructure development.
The project, which President Mahama first envisioned and officially launched in November 2016, is being executed through a public-private partnership involving Meridian Port Services (MPS), the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), APM Terminals, and Africa Global Logistics (AGL).

The expansion is expected to significantly boost Ghana’s port capacity, improve cargo handling, and strengthen the country’s position as a key maritime hub in West Africa.
