SIC Insurance PLC, Ghana’s premier non-life insurer, has reinforced its market-leading status by fulfilling claims totalling GH¢107.6 million throughout the 2025 financial year.
The announcement, made by the Managing Director, James Agyenim-Boateng, underscores the company's robust liquidity and operational resilience during a period of significant growth and structural transformation for the state-backed giant.
The 2025 payout reflects a "disciplined commitment" to policyholders across its diverse portfolio, which includes motor, aviation, marine, and energy insurance.
The firm’s ability to settle substantial claims promptly has been attributed to its "robust reinsurance arrangements" and a strengthened balance sheet that has increasingly caught the eye of investors on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).
While the GH¢107.6 million payout highlights SIC’s reliability for clients, its 2025 financial performance has been equally impressive for investors.
SIC Insurance emerged as one of the GSE’s top performers, ending the 2025 trading year with a staggering 344% share price appreciation.
Starting the year at a modest GH¢0.27, the stock climbed to GH¢1.20 by December, ranking it second overall on the exchange in terms of year-to-date returns.
Financial Highlights (Q3 2025):
- Insurance Revenue: Rose to GH¢413.31 million, up from GH¢315.59 million in 2024.
- Profitability: Posted a post-tax profit of GH¢37.45 million for the nine months ending September 2024, a significant jump from the previous year.
- Asset Strength: Total net assets reached GH¢1.16 billion, with shareholders’ equity surging to GH¢724.27 million.
Mr Agyenim-Boateng, a seasoned lawyer and former Deputy Minister who took the helm in early 2025, has placed "dependable service" at the core of his leadership tenure. In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on 12th February 2026, he framed the record claims payment as a vital component of the nation's economic stability.
“Insurance is a safety net that helps you bounce back when life throws you a curveball. Our mission is to protect clients and help them recover quickly from losses, enabling them to return to their normal lives with minimal disruption,” the Managing Director noted.
Looking ahead, SIC Insurance has unveiled an ambitious growth plan for 2026, targeting a boost in Ghana’s insurance penetration, which remains below 2%. The insurer is doubling down on a Digital Transformation strategy, including the automation of claims processes and the expansion of digital platforms for policy acquisition and renewals.
With its 18th Annual General Meeting having ratified its latest dividend payout, SIC remains focused on high-value segments such as energy and marine insurance, while ensuring that the "sacred promise" of claims settlement remains the bedrock of its operations.
