Ghanaian actor James Gardiner has admonished Ghanaians to vote based on what they are going through economically.
According to him, the economic ups-and-downs have made the times hard.
Speaking with Doreen Avio, Gardiner advised Ghanaians to take steps to make their votes impact the upcoming general elections.
“Times are hard especially when it comes to business not thriving as it used to be, I feel Ghanaians should use whatever it is that they are going through, to vote on what they feel is best for them”, he said.
James supported the National Democratic Congress during the 2020 elections, along with other celebrities.
He further reiterated his stance and support for a political party despite criticisms of being a celebrity.
“I will not be fazed with that because everyone has opinions and choices. I don't have a problem with whoever is judging me from behind the camera saying 'why are you the one joining this'”, he stated.
James also said he does not impose his choices of who to vote for on individuals though he shares the view of being influential because of his standing as a public figure.
“Yes, maybe I may be someone who may influence a couple of people when it comes to what I choose but I am not pointing a weapon at anyone to say he or she should vote for someone by hook or crook, being able to vote means you are mature enough to decide.
“If I make my own decision, how is that your problem? If I choose to follow any political party and I decide to come public with it, it means it's my choice”, he added.

However, the actor stated that everyone has a choice and does not care if his public endorsement of political parties will result in him losing his fans.
“If because I don't support what you support, you are not going to be a fan of mine, that's okay and it means you were probably not supposed to be a fan in the first place because everyone has a choice and I can't do what you want. When the right time comes you will know where the train is heading”, he told Doreen Avio.
