The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the robbery and murder of a 15-year-old housekeeper at Aduman in the Kodie Municipality.
The suspects, Sani Abacha, aged 28, and Asante Eric, aged 23, were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025, on provisional charges of robbery and murder.
They have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on November 25, 2025.
According to police investigations, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 19, 2025, when the complainant parked his tricycle at his home in Aduman Old Town and travelled to Kumasi.Upon his return later that evening, he discovered that both the tricycle and two housekeepers Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15 were missing.
A police statement issued on October 30, 2025, said preliminary findings showed that Abacha had planned to steal the tricycle and lured the victims under the pretext of using the vehicle to transport firewood from his farm.
“After leading them into a bush, he attacked both victims with a cutlass, inflicting several wounds before fleeing with the tricycle,” the statement said.
Investigations further revealed that Abacha later contacted Eric, and the two hid the tricycle at the Aboabogya Cemetery.
They then sold it to a third suspect, identified only as Balawe, who is currently on the run.
The following morning, residents discovered Yankyira unconscious in a cocoa farm near the Aduman Old Town Cemetery.
He had deep cutlass wounds to his neck, head, and ear, and was rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Maase-Offinso for treatment. Shortly afterwards, Boateng’s body was found nearby with similar injuries.
Police recovered a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack and conveyed the deceased’s body to St. Patrick’s Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Abacha was later arrested on October 24, 2025, at Asafo Tinkamu through an intelligence-led operation. He subsequently led officers to apprehend Eric at Aboabogya.
Both suspects reportedly admitted their roles in the crime during interrogation.
The police say efforts are continuing to arrest Balawe and retrieve the stolen tricycle.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect by contacting the nearest police station or calling 191, 18555, or 112.
