Even before Malik Basintale stepped onto the premises of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) headquarters in Accra on Monday, January 27, it was a scene of pomp and pageantry.

His appointment as acting CEO by President John Mahama sparked jubilation among supporters and National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth, who thronged the Accra office to cheer him on.

The air was charged with excitement as Mr Basintale made his way through the crowd, engaging with staff and supporters while cameras flashed to capture the occasion.

Inside the building, there was a formal handover ceremony led by the outgoing CEO, Kofi Agyepong.

In his inaugural remarks, Mr Basintale reiterated his commitment to driving sustainable employment initiatives for Ghana’s youth, stressing job creation as the cornerstone of his administration.

"I have one mandate, that is to achieve in delivering jobs to the youth," he said.

The former NDC Deputy National Communications Officer is usually viewed and celebrated as a charismatic figure among a large constituency of NDC grassroots members.
