Mfantsipim Senior High School won in the first contest for the Central Zone of the preliminary stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Apam SHS and Eguafo Abrem SHS were the other contesting schools booking for a place in the next round with the two-time winners, Mfanstipim SHS.
The Cape Coast-based school Mfantsipim SHS gave a remarkable performance by leading the contest by a huge margin from the fourth round in the competition.
Palmer Maison and Peter Appiah-Thompson, representatives for the Mfantsipim SHS led the renowned school to victory.
Although the 'Problem of the day' posed a challenge to all schools.
Mfantsipim SHS manoeuvred to win a point whereas Apam and Eguafo Abrem SHS had no point in the third round of the contest.
At the end of the first contest for the Central Zone, Mfantsipim SHS had a well-deserved 53 points on the scoreboard.
Apam SHS who battled hard and Eguafo Abrem SHS followed with 31 and 17 points respectively.
Supporters of various schools were not allowed at the venue due to safety protocols ensured to curb the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
However, they participated virtually through the NSMQ Facebook and YouTube channel.
