Bechem United ended Karela United's unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League by scoring a late goal which earned them a 2-1 victory at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Friday afternoon.
Midfielder Listowel Amankona scored the decisive goal in the 91st minute with the game set to end in a stalemate after Diawisie Taylor cancelled out Steven Owusu's opener.
Bechem started brightly but had to wait until the start of the first half to break the deadlock. Owusu found the net for the hosts in the 47th minute.
But the lead lasted for 11 minutes later as Karela equalised through Taylor - his fourth goal of the season.
As the game progressed, there was a sense that both teams will finish the game with their unbeaten record intact but Bechem had other ideas.
Amankona found his way past the Karela United goalkeeper in the 91st minute.
Following the win, Bechem have overtaken Karela as league leaders and also maintain their unbeaten record. They have won three and drawn in five games.
