Some twenty-one persons believed to be members of the LGBTQ group have been remanded into police custody on Friday, May 21, 2021.
The group comprising of 16 males and 5 females were remanded by the Ho Circuit Court for Unlawful Assembly in the Volta Region.
This follows their supposed conference at the Nurses and Midwives Hotel in Ho on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
The suspects are from Greater Accra, Ashanti, Upper East, Upper West, Western, Eastern, Northern and the Volta regions and were advocating LGBTQl activities.
In a release signed by the Public Affairs Officer/VR, Sgt Prince Dogbatse indicated that preliminary investigation uncovered materials such as books and flyers titled; "Hate Crime, The LGBTQ+ Muslim, Gender Acronyms, Coming Out, My Child: My Love Always, All About Trans, All About Intersex, Key Watch and One Love Sisters Ghana.”
The accused persons will reappear before the Court on June 4, 2021.
Meanwhile, the Command assures the public of its resolve to get to the bottom of this issue whilst also cautioning the public, particularly parents to be wary of activities of persons involved in this misbehaviour and report them to the Police.
