Dr. George Akuffo Dampare who was sworn in as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on October 8, has been lauded by members of the general public for his commitment to maintaining law and order in the country.
Since becoming the substantive IGP, his outfit has apprehended many, including dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale for causing fear and panic, and musician Medikal, for brandishing a gun on social media.
During his time as acting IGP, he met conveners of the #FixTheCountry movement for a post-protest review of their demonstration slated for August 4, and led the service to investigate some murder cases including the tragic killing of three young men at Abesim Community.
Currently, Dr Dampare is the 23rd Police boss following the retirement of his predecessor, James Oppong-Boanuh.
Today on Newsfile, host, Samson Lardy Anyenini and his panelists discussed the new IGP, sustaining the zeal for law and order in Ghana as well as the role citizens can play.
Also, the show looked into the broadcast of prophesies and Ghana's laws. This topic follows a hoax shooting incident orchestrated by Shatta Wale.
According to reports, the dancehall artiste pulled the stunt to bemoan a prophesy by Bishop Stephen Akwasi, who said the Shatta Movement President would meet his untimely death on October 18, just as South African reggae artiste, Lucky Dube.
Both Shatta Wale and Bishop Stephen Akwasi were arrested and later granted bail. The case has been adjourned to Tuesday, November 9.
