Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says he is unfazed by naysayers who attempt to derail the significance of government's vision to digitise the structures of the country.
According to him, when it comes to visionaries "who try to move our country to a different level, they are confronted with a mindset that only sees impossibility."
“A mindset that refuses to believe that African countries like Ghana can lead the world in the implementation of digital technologies,” he said on Monday.
In recent times, the Vice President has been ridiculed for his constant propagation of the importance of digitisation.
This trend was rekindled when he openly said he will “choose the Ghana Card over 1,000 interchanges.”
Social media users were livid over the comment and voiced their concerns.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) did not take it lightly either. They described him as a leader whose agenda has had appalling impacts.
But speaking at the launch of the National Electronic Pharmacy Platform, Dr Bawumia said he is unperturbed by the constant negativity.
Touting digitilisation as the future, the Vice President promised to ensure that the objectives of the digitalisation agenda are fully achieved.
In his view, ‘brick and mortar’ approach is not the only technique of transforming the economy.
“This is why I enjoy proving the skeptics wrong all the time. Ultimately, we must all remember that you cannot transform an economy with just bricks and mortar.
"You can only transform an economy with ideas, systems and institutions,” he maintained.
As such, he urged all and sundry to embrace digitisation in order to reap its full benefits.
