Reigning Ghana Premier League champions, Asante Kotoko secured their first victory of the new season after beating Nsoatreman at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday, September 28.
The game was an outstanding fixture from the opening weekend of the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League season.
Stephen Amankona and Isaac Oppong were on target for the Porcupine Warriors as they climbed to ninth on the league table.
Amankona stepped up to take the resulting penalty kick after he had been fouled in the box, scoring to give Kotoko an early lead which they took into the halftime break.
Two minutes after recess, Oppong doubled the lead for Seydou Zerbo's side as he latched onto a pass from Steven Mukwala before striking the ball past the Nsoatreman goalkeeper.
However, the away team gave themselves a chance for a comeback immediately as Philip Ofori scored from a corner kick to make it 2-1.
That goal was all Mohammed Gargo's side could manage as they lost their first game of the season after three matches.
Kotoko face King Faisal in their next league game on Sunday. The Insha Alla lads have lost their opening three games this campaign.
