The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an increment in the cash prize for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
The next champion of Ghana's top-flight league is set to receive GH¢500,000, a GH¢200,000 increase from the previous season.
The increment was announced by the President of the Ghana FA, Kurt Okraku during the launch of the new league season which was held at the Eastern Premier Hotel in Koforidua, Eastern Region.
The reigning champions, Medeama Sporting Club, were rewarded GH¢300,000 last season for winning the league during the 2022/23 season, an award that caused uproar among football fans.
According to the new initiative, the league champion of the 2023/24 league season would get GH¢500,000 in prize money, as well as a trophy and 40 medals.
The team that also finishes as runners-up will receive GH¢200,000, while the third gets GH¢100,000.
