Prempeh College from the Ashanti region triumphed over their archrivals, Presbyterian Boys Senior high School (Presec) narrowly to emerge victors of the 2023 Capital Market Quiz.
The finals of the competition witnessed four schools; Prempeh College, Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School, Presex and Accra Academy battling it out for the coveted trophy.
Presec led in the first four rounds of the competition, but Prempeh came from behind to clinch the title.
The only girls school in the grand finale, Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School did remarkably well as they earned a full score in the mathematical computation of the ‘problem of the day’.
In all, the competition covered about five regions and impacted about 15,000 students.
Speaking to Joy Business, Executive Director of Young Investors Network, Kofi Busia Kyei said the next edition of the quiz will be expanded to include other second-cycle institutions.
“Next year we should expect a bigger contest. We are going to rope in schools from the central region.”
He further called on students to take advantage of the completion to improve their knowledge in investments and finance.
Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Ghana Stock Exchange, Jerry Boachie Danquah said the Ghana Stock Exchange and the Central securities Depository are committed to deepening financial literacy through the competition.
“We believe that this is one of the ways as an exchange we can contribute to the cause of ensuring Ghanaians become financially educated.”
The competition is organised by the Young Investors Network with support from the Ghana Stock Exchange, the central Securities Depository and Nimed Capital.
