Medeama SC were held to a goalless draw by Kpando Hearts of Lions at the TnA Stadium in matchweek five of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Both teams entered the game unbeaten. Medeama had secured 9 points from their first three matches, while Hearts of Lions had accumulated three draws and one win from four games.
The match offered few clear chances, particularly in the second half when Medeama had opportunities. However, the heroics of goalkeeper Lawrence Osei ensured that Hearts of Lions held on for a crucial away draw. He was deservedly rewarded when fans of the home side applauded and gifted him cash after the game.
This was the first time Medeama failed to score this season, after finding the net in their previous three games.
For Bashiru Hayford's side, this marked their second consecutive goalless game and their fourth draw in five matches. Their sole victory came against Hearts of Oak in matchweek two.
Medeama remains at the top of the standings with 10 points from four games. They aim to increase their tally to 13 when they host FC Samartex on Wednesday, October 10, 2024, in an outstanding fixture.
Kpando Hearts of Lions now sit fourth with seven points from five games. They will seek to end their winless streak when they host Vision FC in their matchweek six encounter.
The rest of the Premier League fixtures will continue on Sunday across various venues.
