Accra Lions Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko has claimed that “three gentlemen,” presumably the referees, helped Asante Kotoko beat his team in their Ghana Premier League game.
Albert Amoah scored the only goal just a few minutes into the second half to hand the Porcupine Warriors a 1-0 victory over the Lions on Sunday at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in the matchweek five clash.
Speaking after the game, although the former Ghana international did not specifically mention the referees, he implied that Asante Kotoko won due to unfair officiating.
“We had a not-so-good first half, and it was 1-0 in the second half. Then we woke up,” Tanko said.
Before adding, “Definitely, in the second half, we played better. But, yeah, all of us saw what the three gentlemen did. Yeah, this is how the game ended.
“Being 1-0 down doesn't mean you have to just throw everything away. We believe in our system. So, definitely, like I said, the three gentlemen helped them. So, congratulations to Kotoko.”
Accra Lions sit 14th on the league table with four points from five games after they won once, drawn another, and lost three games.
Lions will next host Berekum Chelsea on Friday, October 11, 2024.
