Nations FC are the new leaders of the Ghana Premier League after Week 11, following their comfortable victory over Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium.
Kotoko were determined to halt a three-game losing run and started well with a few attempts at goal. However, their efforts were undone by a goalkeeping howler from Mohammed Camara.
The shot-stopper mistimed his effort to clear a cross, leaving Nafiu Sulemana with the easiest task of slotting the ball into an empty net to give Nations the lead after the half-hour mark.
Things went from bad to worse for Camara, whose heavy first touch was intercepted by Faisal Charwetey, who rolled the ball into the open goal for the visitors' second on the stroke of halftime.
In between the goals, Baba Yahaya came close to restoring parity with a belter that hit the crossbar.
Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum introduced midfielder Fernando and forward Albert Amoah at the start of the second half, both of whom posed a real threat to Nations FC.
Fernando forced a save from goalkeeper Rabin Ousmane, while Amoah's strike hit the frame of the post as Kotoko’s search for an equalizer intensified.
However, it was too little, too late, as Nations held on for the victory to climb to the summit of the table - benefiting from Bibiani Gold Stars' loss to Medeama.
Meanwhile, Kotoko sank further to eighth place.
The Porcupines will take on Aduana FC in Dormaa in their next encounter, while Nations FC host Berekum Chelsea.
