The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at the Iron City office in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Kasoa, in the Central Region, which led to the death of one person and the injury of another.
The suspects are Awudu Yakubum, Kwabena Essah, Hakeem Bawa and Issaka Mashual.
One AK47 rifle with 69 rounds of ammunition has been retrieved from the suspects.
The injured victim is currently receiving medical care, while the body of the deceased is taken to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, the four suspects are currently in custody assisting the Police investigation.
Information gathered indicates that both the deceased and the injured individual are believed to be members of the NDC.
According to reports, the incident occurred after the NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, allegedly declared herself the winner of the parliamentary elections.
The reports suggest that unknown assailants followed her and opened fire as they were heading home after observing the vote counting and collation exercise.
Ghana Police Service sources have since confirmed that the victims were supporters of Phillis Naa Koryor.
