The NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has made a passionate appeal to the global investor community to maintain confidence in Ghana’s stability and democratic character, even as the country transitions to a new government.
Delivering his concession speech after a decisive win by former President John Mahama in the 2024 general elections, he stated the importance of preserving Ghana’s image as a peaceful and investor-friendly nation.
“It is important that the world investor community continues to believe in the peaceful and democratic character of Ghana. These are our most important assets,” he said, underscoring the economic significance of maintaining investor trust during political transitions.
Dr. Bawumia praised the democratic process, noting that while the election outcome was not what he and the NPP hoped for, the will of the people must be respected.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting a smooth transition to the new administration, led by President-elect Mahama, to ensure continuity and stability in governance.
The Vice President highlighted Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa, urging all stakeholders to put the nation’s interests first.
“Ghana is more important than our individual political ambitions, and we must always put Ghana first,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia’s appeal to investors aligns with his consistent focus on economic transformation during his tenure and campaign.
Acknowledging the challenges ahead, he encouraged the NPP rank and file to remain hopeful, regroup, and prepare for the future.
While expressing gratitude to his supporters, family, and campaign team, Dr Bawumia reassured Ghanaians that the NPP would continue to contribute to national development as a constructive opposition.
His call for investor confidence and peaceful transition has been widely praised as a testament to Ghana’s commitment to democratic principles and economic progress.
