Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has urged Ghanaians to put behind them the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana failed to seal a ticket to Morocco after finishing bottom of their group during the qualifying series which saw them fail to win a game.
While Addo oversaw one of Ghana’s worse performance in AFCON qualifiers, results in the Word Cup qualifiers are different as he’s won all four games he has been in charge.
Speaking after the win over Madagascar on Monday, March 24, Addo reiterated the need to focus on the tasks ahead.
“Like I said, it is not done yet. We still have to work hard. This is football, [and] things can turn very fast, and as a national [team] coach, you always have to wait for some months before you can get the team together to play again,” he said.
“I am very happy with the result and the way we played. It’s well deserved, and we are looking forward.
“We can’t change the past. We have to look forward and use this position in which we are now to qualify for the World Cup.”
Ghana beat Madagascar 3-0 in Morocco to stretch their lead at the top of Group I, moving five clear of second-placed Madagascar.
