Hitz Gallery, the evening flagship show on Hitz 103.9 FM hosted by Dr Pounds, now features two fresh segments: What’s Up in Town and Something Wicked Sports.
This addition to Hitz Gallery which airs on weekdays from 7pm to 10pm, is aimed at delivering a richer, more vibrant nighttime experience for music lovers and urban audiences.
Dr Pounds, real name Maximous Mensah, is a multi-talented radio presenter, actor and event MC. Known on-air as the ‘Accra’s Evening Mayor’, he has built a strong reputation since joining Hitz FM.
What’s Up in Town, the first new feature, will explore the pulse of Accra, covering nightlife highlights, cultural happenings and hidden gems, with interviews, on-the-ground reports, and live check-ins.
Something Wicked Sports, meanwhile, offers a bold twist: evening sports commentary, curated highlights and candid opinions on the biggest plays and local athletic events.

Over the past year he has cemented himself as a credible host in the creative scene, mixing music, culture, sports and community life. His approachable style and urban insight have endeared him to radio lovers.
Station leadership says the added segments reflect a broader retooling of Hitz FM’s schedule.
For other programmes on the station, Kwame Dadzie, prominent arts and culture journalist, will be hosting the weekday Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio (6:10 am–10 am), offering fresh celebrity interviews and creative-sector discussions.
Andy Dosty, longtime morning voice, has been shifted to Afternoon Ride (12 pm–4 pm) with lifestyle content, love ballads and listener engagement segments.
Also, DJ Black, who is Hitz FM’s Programme Manager, will be helming Musik Box (10 am–12 pm), as he delivers curated mid-morning tracks.
Merqury Quaye, continues the drive-time Cruise Control (4 pm–7 pm), which now features a Thursday and Friday Spotlight interview hour.
The revamp highlights Hitz FM’s drive to remain Ghana’s leading entertainment and lifestyle radio station, targeting youthful audiences and urban professionals. The new evening segments, in particular, aim to keep listeners hooked well after dark.
Fans and listeners can tune in live weekdays, and catch up on segments via Hitz FM’s digital channels (Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube), or stream shows on www.myjoyonline.com alongside live feeds on Facebook and X.
