Ghanaian boxer Ernest Akushey, affectionately known in the ring as ‘Bahubali’, has died just 11 days after his last fight against Jacob Dickson at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The pugilist was involved in a highly anticipated super middleweight contest on September 12, but reports suggest he suffered internal bleeding following the bout.
He lost to Jacob Dickson in the super middleweight showdown in the eighth round.

His death was understood to have been confirmed in the early hours of Tuesday.
Akushey competed in both the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
He has a record of eight professional fights, with six victories to his name.
His sudden passing has once again brought safety concerns in Ghanaian boxing into focus.
