The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of Directors for the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), urging members to take decisive steps to address the company’s long-standing operational and financial challenges.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Accra, Mr Jinapor highlighted NEDCo’s vital role in Ghana’s energy supply chain, particularly in the northern part of the country.
He charged the new board to focus on three key priorities — improving revenue mobilisation, enhancing customer education, and ensuring a reliable power supply across its operational zones.

“NEDCo remains a critical player in Ghana’s energy distribution framework. As board members, your leadership must bring about meaningful change. You are expected to strengthen revenue collection systems, drive effective customer engagement, and, most importantly, ensure that the lights are kept on at all times,” he stated.

The Minister further urged the board to maintain a harmonious working relationship between management and staff, stressing that internal cohesion was essential for operational efficiency and effective service delivery.

The new board members are: Cletus Seidu Dapilah (Chairman), Ing. Prof. Felix Kofi Abagale, Dr Emelia Guo, Ing. Edward Obeng Kenzo, Ing. John Okine Yamoah (Ag. MD), and Alhaji Seidu Imoro.
Responding on behalf of the board, Mr Dapilah expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in them, assuring that the team was committed to repositioning NEDCo as a model utility company.
“We are fully aware of the task ahead. My colleagues and I are committed to working diligently with all stakeholders to position NEDCo as a leading example of excellence and innovation in the utility sector, especially within the framework of the new energy transition agenda,” he affirmed.
