The Paramount Chief of the Assin Fosu Traditional Area, Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II, has conferred a special honour on former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, during a grand durbar of chiefs and people, held at Assin Fosu, in the Central Region.
The occasion, which was organised to climax activities to celebrate the Tutukesse Afahyia, by the chiefs and people of the Assin Traditional Area, was also attended by a large gathering including representatives of government, chiefs, the security agencies, the clergy, youth and women groups, as well as well-wishers from all walks of life.
Presenting the special award, the Omanhene, on behalf of the chiefs and people, showered praises on John Boadu, describing him as a humble citizen of the land who has distinguished himself in national leadership and brought honour to his people.
He acknowledged John Boadu's numerous contributions to the development of the Assin Traditional Area, while advising the youth to emulate his example.
The Paramount Chief further urged Adwenkesie to accept the award conferred on him, as motivation to aspire for greater achievements for the benefit of the good people of Assin and the nation as large.
The Tutukesse Festival, celebrated by the People of Assin, has ancient significance of fostering unity, peace and development.
However, in the recent past, some disagreements amongst rival chiefs resulted in the suspension of the celebration until this year.
