The Central East Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has rescued 46 victims of suspected human trafficking, among them a three-year-old child, during an intelligence-led operation at Green Estate in Buduburam in the Gomoa East District.
Police said the victims, believed to be nationals of neighbouring Francophone countries, were enticed by traffickers with false promises of better livelihoods and opportunities abroad.
According to investigators, the victims were later held in a residential building under harsh conditions, with limited access to food, communication and other basic necessities.

The rescue operation was carried out after a relative of one of the victims lodged a formal complaint with the police, prompting swift action by the Police Intelligence Department.
One suspect has been arrested in connection with the case, while efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the alleged trafficking network.

Confirming the development, the Central East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Victor Dosoo, said investigations are ongoing as police work to ensure the safety of the victims and bring all perpetrators to justice.
