Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has joined English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) on a permanent transfer.
The move marks a return to England after an injury-disrupted spell in Italy with Fiorentina.
Lamptey and Fiorentina mutually agreed to end their relationship in May, bringing an early conclusion to a chapter in which he made only 25 minutes of competitive football appearances.
The defender suffered an ACL injury during his time in Italy but is now progressing in his recovery and is expected to return to selection in September.
“I'm excited for the opportunity ahead,” Lamptey said after completing the move.
“When I spoke to the gaffer and Christian (Nourry), the project was an encouraging one.
“The team have ambitious goals for this season, so I'm looking forward to it.”
Lamptey, who was born in Hillingdon and developed through Chelsea’s academy looks to rebuild his career and rediscover the form that once made him one of the most exciting young full-backs in English football.
The defender rose through Chelsea’s youth system before making his Premier League debut against Arsenal in 2019.
He later joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2020, where he established himself as a key player and made more than 120 appearances for the Seagulls.
His performances on the south coast earned him international recognition with Ghana, and he represented the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Lamptey has since earned 11 senior caps for Ghana.
