A Member of the ad-hoc committee constituted to probe the allegations made by the Minority against the Finance Minister says he will push for proceedings to be telecast live.
Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says he will strongly advocate for this at the Committee’s first meeting today, Friday, November 11.
According to the North Tongu MP, this will afford the generality of Ghanaians to follow the issues raised against the embattled minister.
Speaking on Metro TV on Friday, Mr Ablakwa insisted that the allegations raised against Mr Ken Ofori-Atta will be proven during proceedings.
“I am really excited that this matter is going to play out in the next seven days and I will suggest strongly when we meet at committee that proceedings should be telecast live on television and radio and streamed on the internet so the whole world would follow,” he said.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin constituted an 8-member committee co-chaired by KT Hammond, Adansi-Asokwa MP, and Dominic Ayine, Bolgatanga East MP, on Thursday, November 10, to probe the allegations.
The committee which has seven days to submit its report comprises Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Bernard Ahiafor on the Minority side and Patrick Yaw Boamah, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi and Andrew Agyapa Mercer from the Majority side.
The Minority side in Parliament filed a motion seeking a vote of censure to be passed on Ken Ofori-Atta over the current economic crisis.
The NDC MPs made seven allegations against the Finance Minister.

The claims are conflict of interest, unconstitutional withdrawals from the Consolidated Fund, illegal payment of oil revenues into offshore accounts, deliberate and dishonest misreporting of economic data to Parliament, fiscal recklessness, alarming incompetence and gross mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy.
