Bantama MP and former Roads and Highways Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has outlined the substantial amount of work required to complete the Accra–Kumasi Highway dualisation project, following President Mahama’s inspection of the ongoing works on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, December 4, he acknowledged the President’s assurance that the dualisation, currently 64 per cent complete, would be finalised within his remaining three-year term, alongside the launch of a new Accra–Kumasi Expressway project.
Mr Asenso-Boakye emphasised that completing the current dualisation will not be a simple task, stressing that the government must ensure consistent investment and efficient project management.
According to him, the outstanding works include finishing the 46-kilometre bypasses at Osino, Anyinam, Enyiresi and Konongo, which he said are 72 per cent complete, as well as dualising the remaining 94-kilometre section of the corridor.
He described both components as critical to achieving a safer, faster and more resilient national trunk road system.
“These are significant undertakings,” he wrote, adding that execution must be backed by “careful planning, sustained financing and efficient execution”.
Mr Asenso-Boakye concluded his remarks by expressing goodwill to the administration, stating: “I wish the President and the Government Godspeed!”
