Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, is open to inviting “every player who is good and has Ghanaian roots” to play for the national team.
Otto named his 23-man squad for Ghana’s AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Angola and Niger, which includes familiar names such as Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, and Lawrence Ati-Zigi.
The Football Association is also monitoring foreign-born players who could feature for the national team, including AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro.
“We are focusing on our next game, one thing you can be sure of is that every player who is good and has Ghanaian heritage and can come play for the national team we will be pleased to have him," Otto said.
“If somebody has a Ghanaian name and he plays in the top league in Europe, that is just our decision."
The Black Stars will begin their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign in Group F against Angola on September 5 at the Baba Yara Stadium, before travelling to Niger for their second four days later.
