Residents of Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah region are demanding the withdrawal of police from Daboya.
This follows the arrest and assault of some community members allegedly by some police officers for unknown reasons.
The residents, who embarked on a demonstration, burned car tyres to express their dissatisfaction with the police and the Security Council over the arrest of some men in the community.

The demonstrators presented their petition to the police command of the North Gonja district to be forwarded to the Savannah Regional police command for the restoration of peace in Daboya.
Due to the recent disturbances, some residents have abandoned their farms and other business over fear of arrest or physical attack by the police.
The residents are therefore calling on the government and the National Peace Council to intervene.

In June this year, about 118 men were arrested, while three received gunshot wounds and are receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital over a land dispute between Gonjas and Mamprusis at Lukula.
On June 16, four men were again arrested by the police. Two lives have been lost so far, one in Lukula and another in Daboya.
