The Minority caucus in Parliament has officially reached out to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison, formally requesting him to schedule a time for them to receive their petition calling for his removal.
In a letter addressed to Dr Addison on Monday, December 11, the NDC MPs emphasised that they will no longer tolerate any form of disrespect.
They have issued a one-week ultimatum, setting the deadline for Monday, December 18, for Dr Addison to inform them of the date when he will be available to personally receive their petition.
“We therefore write to request your availability at the premises of the Bank of Ghana head office for the Honourable Members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament to hand over our petition to you personally.”
“Kindly inform us by Monday, 18th December 2023, a date and time convenient to you for us to present our petition to you at the Bank of Ghana head office,” an excerpt of the Minority’s letter said.
In October 2023, the minority group organized a demonstration at the Central Bank's premises, demanding the removal of Dr Addison from office.
However, their attempt to submit the petition was thwarted, as the BoG governor did not engage with the minority caucus.
The security official designated by the BoG to receive the petition was rejected by the Minority group.
