Founder of Perez Dome Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, has urged President John Dramani Mahama not to take for granted the overwhelming trust Ghanaians have placed in him following his electoral victory.
In an exclusive interview on Prime Morning with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime, the Archbishop described the outcome of the last election as “unprecedented,” adding that Ghanaians have essentially handed over their lives to the President’s leadership.
“What God did for him in this election is unprecedented. Basically, Ghanaians were telling him that, Mr President, we have given you our lives. If you have two-thirds of Parliament, it means you can do anything you want,” he stated.
“So what Ghanaians were saying was, we don’t want you to have obstacles in what you want to do; we want you to be able to pass any law you want.”
Archbishop Agyinasare, however, warned that such power comes with immense responsibility and could either be a force for positive transformation or a dangerous temptation.
“There are two ways it could go — either the power corrupts him, or it makes him reflect deeply and act responsibly,” he cautioned.
He reiterated that the election was not just a political win but a sacred trust.
“Mahama shouldn’t take what we did in this last election as Ghanaians for granted — because we gave our lives to him,” he said.
