The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ntim, has stated that the party’s goal in election 2024 was to secure a resounding victory in the elections.
Despite all the hard work, he says the outcome did not meet the party's expectations.
And according to him, while they may not have won the battle, they have not lost the war in their quest for a better Ghana.
Speaking to party members, the party chairman noted that the leadership of the NPP shares in the pain of all party supporters devastated by the election defeat. “There is no doubt that the outcome of the elections was not what we hoped for, we may not have won the battle, but we haven’t lost the war on the quest for a better Ghana.”
“We understand your disappointment because we feel it too, just as the hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians who invested their hopes and dreams in this campaign,” he explained.
“As a party formed by individuals from all sectors of our society who are motivated by the ideals of development and freedom, we seek to grow the individual liberty of our people by growing a strong democracy,” he mentioned.
Mr Ntim announced that in January 2025, the party will establish an effective and objective election review committee to conduct a thorough post-mortem on the election results.
He further explained that the committee will engage party stakeholders and the general public to examine the factors and circumstances leading to the defeat.
“We have a firm belief that the work of the election review committee will enable our people to express their concerns and to bring out suggestions, reforms and changes, and other critical issues necessary to restructuring our party,” he said.
