FC Zurich have officially announced the departure of Ghanaian striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
Barnieh joined the Swiss club in January 2023 from Hearts of Oak, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The 24-year-old has since featured in 50 competitive matches for the Swiss side, scoring two goals and registering four assists.
However, the stint saw Barnieh struggle to cement a regular spot in the starting lineup.
"FC Zurich announces that Ghanaian striker Daniel Afriyie is leaving the city-based club," the club said in a statement.
"His contract has been terminated by mutual consent. FC Zurich thanks Daniel Afriyie for his commitment and wishes him all the best for the future."
The forward is now a free agent and expected to consider new opportunities this summer.
