Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has called on Ghanaians to be patient with Otto Addo following his return to take over the head coach role.
Addo was confirmed as the gaffer of the team prior to the March international break and took charge of the games against Nigeria and Uganda. The Black Stars lost 2-1 to Nigeria before a 2-2 stalemate against the Cranes.
Addo has returned at a difficult period for the national team with the team's last win coming in September 2023 under Chris Hughton. No wins in his first two games mean Ghana have now gone seven games without victory across all competitions.
However, Gyan, who played with Otto Addo at the 2006 World Cup, is hopeful his former teammate can do a decent job when given time to build the team.
"Otto Addo has returned; it's a different atmosphere and different players. Although he has worked with some of the players, I think it's still a process," said Asamoah Gyan on Asempa FM. "He also came with a new staff so it's a different era."
"Let's see what he also has for us. We will support him through his rebuilding to see where he can take us.
"Ghanaians will be the ones to judge what he has done so I think we should give him time to rebuild his team."
Otto Addo was in charge of the Black Stars during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, winning one of their three games with defeats also to Portugal and Uruguay denying them progress from the group stage.
