Bechem United beat relegation-threatened Eleven Wonders 1-0 at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.
Coming into the match with back-to-back defeats, the Hunters started brightly knowing that victory was crucial in their fight to avoid relegation.
Wonders defended resolutely and kept the contest tight, limiting clear chances in a tense first half.
However Kobina Amissa’s men continued to push in the second half, committing more bodies forward as the pressure mounted on the visitors.
The pressure from the home side finally paid off in the 74 minute when Augustine Mensah calmly converted from the penalty spot after a foul in the penalty box.
Bechem United held firm in the closing stages to secure a much-needed win that moves them to within three points of safety, while Eleven Wonders remain at the bottom of the table with six points.
