The Management of Jospong Group of Companies has extended condolences to the Government and bereaved families, following the tragic loss of two ministers and six others in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.
Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman, Jospong Group, paid tribute to the departed and laid a bouquet of flowers at the Flagstaff House ceremonial garden.
“This is a heartbreaking loss – to their families, to the Government, and to the Nation they served with honour and distinction. Ghana has lost true patriots.
“On behalf of the entire Jospong Group, I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May their souls find perfect peace,” he stated.
A state funeral has been scheduled, Friday August 15, 2025, for the departed persons, which include Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence.
That of Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security, and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation is being held Sunday, August 10, 2025.
The others are; Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Aboagye, a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Flags have been flying at half-mast following the incident, which occurred in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region.
The victims were attending an anti-illegal mining event, known as the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) at Obuasi.
Citizens, diplomatic missions and international organisations have paid tribute to the victims and expressed well wishes to the their families and the nation.
